SINGLE NOW OUT!!!

Thought this deserved its own blog post! My first single off my upcoming album is now out and for a limited period only, available for download free on my website: www.mingbridges.com. It was such a pleasure producing this single. I actually wrote it quite a while ago, back in the day where the thought of anyone (ANYONE) hearing my own songs made me want to crawl up into a little ball and die. I'm so glad I got the chance to work with Funkie Monkies and have them give me the confidence to end up producing an album where I have personally written all the english songs and that itself is such a big accomplishment for me (and my guitar). I really hope you enjoy it but if not, don't worry, there is more to come ;).

Wonderful Weekend.

I know I recently posted Ed Sheeran, but I can't stop listening to this song. And I love Rupert Grint!

I've had such a busy, wonderful weekend with the music video shoot and photo shoot for the up coming single (which is coming out so soon!!!). I was also fortunate enough to be invited to the Singapore Hit Awards show which aired on Channel U last night. And to top it off, mum and I managed to go to a christmas cupcake course which was, AMAZING. So I'll write a bit about that!

This is me having done hair and makeup before leaving the house. My shoot was on 11/11/11 (hopefully a good thing, hehe) which meant it was remembrance day (veterans day/armistice day) which is a big deal for me. It recalls the official end of World War I on that day when everything ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month - which means every every year at that time we give 2 minutes of silence (you can see me wearing my poppy to respect in the picture below). It's to give respect to all war veterans who defended our right to freedom with their own lives getting nothing in return. On top of that its a very sad day for my family (as it is for so many) where my great grandma lost 5 of her brothers in that war :(.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn,

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them.

I miss being in school for remembrance and being part of the choir. One of my two favourite hymns are In Flanders Fields and I Vow To Thee My Country. Their so moving. Anyway I ended up doing my 2 minutes silence off the set alone but I'm glad I got to pay my respect.

I asked for Pineapple hair but he said he only had Bananas (hahaha...). Anyway I think I've passed my limit of how much info I'm allowed to leak out so I'll finish with a photo that hopefully doesn't give away too much...

Tadaaa! My hair and makeup for my photo shoot for the single which comes out NOVEMBER 21ST!!! so watch out for it on the radio! I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Its very special to me as its the first time ever that I'm releasing my own material!

Anyway after this I got to go to the Singapore Hit Awards show, this is what I wore...

I felt a little silly when I got there and saw some people in complete down-to-the-floor gowns but hopefully I just got away with it being 19, hehe. Stephanie Sun was sitting in front of me! I was so star struck. She's so pretty!

Anyway to end my amazing weekend, my mum and I did a cooking course at Shermay's Cooking School which I 100% recommend. They were so helpful. Although it wasn't hands on, they tell you how the ingredients changes the flavour and where to buy EVERYTHING and it was such a comfortable, casual atmosphere. They even passed around extra stuff for us to try as well as giving us our own goodie bag of treats and on top of that extra christmas give aways! So sweet! It was very different to my experience at Phoon Huat before with a hands on lesson. Both as good - depends what you're looking for. I quite enjoyed watching it get done right instead of messing up myself, haha - hopefully I can replicate it at home.

Anyway thats all for now - I'll be doing some christmas posts next week (I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME!!) and some more FEMMEX posts too. On top of that I am going to an amazing party this weekend and I'll be sure to fill you in on that...

I have a very busy week ahead of me so I thought I’d take this little break to update! Just finished my performance for clicknetwork TV (my first EVER guitar performance – not going to lie, was SUPER nervous! They said it should be aired around the 25^th of November so do look out for it! I performed a stripped down acoustic of what will be the first single off my new album coming out next year!

The beginning of November is also quite a big month for my chinese family as 3 of my cousin's (include me) birthday's are within days of each other! So I also attended my cousin's 18th/21st! Finally a chance to break out my dearly loved princess polaroid film, hehehe...

Their cakes were AMAZING!! I love cakes - next week when things settle down a tiny bit to just recording, I'm going to spend my mornings trying to learn to bake!

And what did we get them? WANDS! woohoo, Harry Potter FTW! I seriously missed out not bringing mine along...

Other than that I've been recording a lot! I'm so pumped for the release of my single in, dundundun, 13 days! Will be recording the MV this weekend so if you stay tuned you may get to see a few uploaded sneak peaks... Anyway. I didn't really celebrate my birthday as I had to work all day, but it didn't matter much as I had already got to celebrate two weeks early with a few of my friends and family in england. I still had a nice time at home with my mum and dad <3. My sister did send me this though...

What a sweetheart! I was so shocked - completely made my day! Its always so much more about the thought thats gone into the gift than the gift itself. Although, my sister had got me some pretty sweet things for my birthday, luckily I got to open them two weeks early hehehe. I miss her so much.

My producer and managers also got me this ukelele! I'm so excited to learn - there's even a little chord dictionary there for me! Thats me in the studio opening my present :). I got some pretty amazing, thoughtful gifts. Even though I was working on my birthday I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.



I went into FEMMEX for a little look at their new arrivals and ended up leaving with most of them! After posting about how much I ADORE leopard print I found a leopard print blouse! So ended up getting that along with a few other items that I'm sure you'll be seeing me blog about soon!

Todays hair and makeup for the performance! (I'm taking lessons next week to learn, fingers crossed!)

Wild Thing

I love the music video, it's so cute! My favourite song at the moment...

Anyway! I'm going to try and keep this post shorter than my normal rants.

Celebrated my 19th with a few friends at Raffles in Chelsea. One of my friends and my Sister organised the whole thing for me - super super sweet! I'm a very lucky girl.

Bianca and I also went to see BRITNEY SPEARS live in concert! She may not have been all she used to have been but it was so amazing. I am not ashamed to admit that I was holding back my tears when she came out. I mean, it was BRITNEY SPEARS! I couldn't believe it! She completed my childhood!

I love live performances. I love the costumes! The stage set-ups were amazing.

This was my favourite costume! The costume lights up with red lighting down the sides. Amazing.

Anyway I thought I'd talk about my favourite trend this year which is (dundundun...), leopard prints! I think prints are gorgeous and an amazing way to make someone stand out. Especially with a plain outfit I love throwing in prints to add something different. My favourite is animal prints but I love florals and houndstooth as well. When leopard prints came back into the eye of fashion a few months ago I was OVER THE MOON. I think I've stocked up on enough leopard print items for life. Its hard to find good prints. I'm not one to go all out and wear a huge leopard print coat but I enjoy classic pieces of print. I've attached a few photos at the bottom that I've just scanned my computer for!

Off to FEMMEX tomorrow to source out new finds!

After a shocking last post I'm going to try and keep this short, sweet and limit the photos.

Loving this song at the moment.

Orlando was AMAZING. My family and I are very serious about theme parks. We plan what rides we are going to go to (so that we can run from one to another) and get there before the theme park opens. Hence after a grudging race between 2 middle aged couples (a husband and wife literally FOUGHT to get to harry potter land in front of me! A little girl!) I was the first one on the ride :). They made the simple error of bringing bags which would therefore have to be put into lockers... lucky we think these things through beforehand, huh? ;)

BEST RIDE I HAVE EVER, EVER BEEN ON. I'm so lucky to have gone. Thank gosh for my good exam grades (Woohoo!)

ME AND MY SISTER IN HOGSMEADE!! I have such a new appreciation and love for bodysuits - so so comfortable to wear! And i adore neon! I think a little bit of it brightens up any dull outfit.

Hogsmeade looked so authentic! I wanted to cry at how happy I was - such an amazing experience. I love how theme parks have the power to bring something magical to life. We went to two theme parks while being at universal - Universal's Island of Adventure and Universal Studios. Both amazing. Apparently when Harry Potter land first opened the queue went all the way to OUTSIDE the themepark. How insane is that!?

My mum and dad decided to skip the water rides. We, err... didn't.

We had to stand in one of those dryer rooms for about 15 minutes after this. What a blunder. You can see my sister is my best friend. :) Hehe, I love this photo...

But not as much as THIS PHOTO. Brave girls, hahaha!

Ok I'm starting to get scared of my photo limit so I'm posting two together! Thats us in Marvel Island and, omg! For the first time the RIDE STOPPED half way through! Unfortunately it was the only ride mummy dearest decided to go on and, incidentally, she freaked out. Good thing we were on the ground huh... I couldn't imagine if it had been a roller coaster. :|

I know for a fact that one of my many flaws is my eating mannerisms. Everyone I know (and has had the pleasure of eating with me) have told me that I am one of the most disgusting eaters ever. I'm not proud of it, but what can I say? I enjoy my food. This photo makes me happy - I haven't had a turkey leg since I was about 8 years old.

JAWS!! Check out my sa-weeeeeet top. ;). Me and Bianca decided to be touristy and get thing one and thing two shirts, hehe. I kid you not, ENTIRE FAMILIES walked around with these shirts - thing one, thing two, thing three, thing four, and in some cases (where their family was obviously too big for this novelty), they threw in thing mum AND thing dad as well! My parents joked around about getting them. It wasn't a funny joke.

And now for my favourite photo with my one and only - SPONGEBOB!

I am now back in England writing songs. My mum's Feng Shui master has told her that traveling helps inspire me to write (I'm not complaining, hehe). I always write songs on the plane, train and when I'm jet lagged. Have also been catching up with my friends who are here; my friends from boarding school and friends who have moved over here for university! As I wouldn't be with them to celebrate my birthday I had an earlier celebration with them - but I'll save that for another post.
