A little taste of how patriotic Britain can get! There are actually SO many photos so I’ve tried to only put a few up. I’ll place more at the end of the post for those who want to see a larger display of all the British goodies on show!
HOW DO WE CELEBRATE THE QUEEN’S 60TH YEAR REIGNING YOU MAY ASK?
Oh yes, 4 days of pimms, picnics and parties. All accompanied by London’s infamous lovely rainy weather.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip back to England for my sister’s Speech Day. Not only was it fortunate enough to be during the Jubilee Weekend (for the food) but I got to get there a little early and check out all the decorations (more photos at the end of the post)
So patriotic! I love it! I love being a Brit and watching everyone else get all excited about decorating their shops and putting unique British spins on their products, but it’s the tourist who must get the biggest kick out of coming to London and seeing how proud we are! It was just CRAZY in Selfridges…
Tables upon tables upon tables of red, white and blue. It was so fun just going into all the shops and supermarkets and looking at all the stuff!
Even Dad joined in on the fun (cringe), haha. OKAY. Rest of the photos below, cause I still have more to tell you about!
What I was greeted with entering my old boarding house, how cute!
SPEECH DAY was cold! As usual. But hey, I was trying to be optimistic in the morning when I went for the dress over trousers option. Big mistake.
It got sunnier (thank gosh) and we celebrated by having a picnic and pimms on the school grounds.
My sister and her friends.
The school recently underwent a lot of renovation and TADA! In the midst of the british school grounds popped up a... chinese centre!? Where was this when I was there!
And the most amazing addition (of course) was OUR PLAQUES!
Hamish (my cousin), Me and Bianca, side by side. How sweet J.
Yum yum.
Magnificent. I love how traditional it all is.
The day after was the day of the Queen’s Boat Pageant on the River Thames and being the organized bunny I am, I had already sorted out tickets weeks in advance!
They had so many fun stalls!
We went to get our hair done at this one and it was just so super cute!
What do you think?
Gorgeous nails
Beautiful weather
LOTS of food!
Queen in cake.
All of us gathered by the river in the rain to watch the pageant!
Biggest cake competition!
Carnival!
However, the weather wasn’t at all that great and we had to walk out of Battersea Park for over an hour before it started to rain and we ducked into a corner store.
Downed a packet of these. Not one of my finest moments.
Finally home and snug in our onesies!
THE NEXT DAY we decided on having a BBQ but with the weather it just wasn’t happening so we held it indoors instead. Look how much cream we had in the fridge for all our strawberry desserts, what a joke.
Anyway, here are photos of what we got together for the BBQ. I don’t get it when people say they can’t eat after they’ve baked. I get SO HUNGRY!
Food + Games = BEST BBQ
I was very proud of our rendition of the Victoria Sponge Cake. Hello Queenie!
Eton Mess - Classic summer dessert.
Cute cute cute!
And that’s about it! For those who want to know how to make pimms, here are the instructions (for a classic pimms, there are other types you can make!).
Extra photos below. Sorry this post took far too long and is in itself, very long! I tried to put as minimal photos as possible but still it ended up being quite a hefty amount hey?
Love!
Ming.
My Jubilee Nails!
